The "calacala" is an ancient form of barter that took place in Procida and in all the Campi Flegrei where the small fishermen returning from the fishing trip approached the coast and called the local farmers with the voice calacala urging them to lower the basket with products of the garden and exchanging them with part of the fish. In the 1900s this form of primordial trade without the intermediation of money took place in Procida by land with the fishermen who went around the town and offered the calacala to the farmers.
Farm Experience
The Farm Experience at CalaCala Procida Island is a true immersion into the nature and agricultural traditions of Procida. Eduardo will share his vision of organic farming and introduce you to his “seed bank,” which he has been cultivating for over fifty years. Salvatore will prepare traditional Procidian dishes live, while sharing the stories and cultural roots behind his cuisine. He will also prepare the famous home made lemon salad, which you can enjoy accompanied by an excellent bottle of wine.
