The 2024 edition of the SUM Symposium took place from 15th to 17th May 2024 in the fascinating island of Capri, Italy at the Municipal Congress Centre.
SUM 2024 was held under the patronage of the Italian Ministry of Environment and Energy Security, Campania Region, City of Capri, ENEA, ISPRA and Tavolo di Roma.
The Symposium was attended by 163 delegates from 34 different countries representing various disciplines (including Agronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Economics, Engineering, Law, Material Science, Medicine, etc.).
The programme featured 149 scientific presentations, delivered across 4 parallel tracks comprising oral sessions, workshops and poster presentations. Each day was further enhanced by plenary Focus Sessions - 4 in total - where a moderator and a panel of experts engaged with the audience on topics of significant public interest.
In addition to the scientific programme, participants enjoyed lively social events which included a dancing night at the famous Taverna Anema e Core, where delegates experienced authentic Capri nightlife, and a gala dinner at the elegant restaurant Al Caprì, followed by an evening of music and dancing that fostered networking in a relaxed and festive atmosphere.
