The 2020 edition of SUM was held as a fully virtual event, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, from 18th to 20th November 2020.
The symposium was attended by 255 participants connected from 40 different countries all around the world. The programme was richer than any other previous edition, with over 270 scientific presentations structured in 6 parallel tracks of oral sessions, workshops, virtual technical tours, roundtables on EU Projects and poster discussions.
The event was held in partnership with another important IWWG event: VENICE 2020 - 8th Symposium on Energy from Biomass and Waste, 16-19 November 2020. The two conferences were combined and hosted on the same virtual platform, thus building an international reference event in the field of circular economy and recovery of resources from waste, both in terms of materials and energy.
